How to Pookie-Fy Your Relationship

You open Instagram and immediately hear a thick Southern accent saying “Pookie is looking absolutely fire today.” A couple that has been compared looks-wise to the one in The Purge is staring at you through your screen as they show off their designer outfits.

Campbell Hunt Puckett, 31, and Jett Puckett, 33, are a well-off married couple living in Atlanta, Georgia. So where did Pookie come from? “She [Campbell] just looks like a Pookie.” Jett told E! News exclusively.

From Alix Earle to Sylvester Stallone, the Puckett’s have the eyes of the whole world on them. Whether you like them or not, you can’t get them off of your For You Page or your television for that matter as talk show hosts from all over are talking about the couple.

You would never guess that they have been married for 6 years by all of the loving acts that doting hubby Jett does for Campbell on the daily. Despite people finding the couple ‘cringe’ at first, people now realize the love that the two have for each other is quite rare to come by these days.

The real questions is — how can you Pookie-fy your own relationship?

  1. COMPLIMENTS

One constant in the infamous videos that Jett and Campbell post across social media is the act of the two showering each other in compliments. Whether Jett is talking about how “quintessentially Pookie” Campbell is looking today or when Campbell gushes over how ‘hot’ Jett looks, the two know how to make each other feel good. In an article from MembrasinLife they state that “When you compliment your significant other, you’re conveying to them that you see them and that you appreciate them for who they are.” This highlights the importance of compliments in a relationship. You don’t have to tell you S.O. that they’re looking absolutely fire today but you can tell them how good their hair looks today or that you appreciate how they took out the garbage for you.

2. ACTS OF SERVICE

Now you don’t have to buy your Pookie a Birkin (bonus points if you do, though) to show them that you love them. In many videos, Jett simply surprises Campbell with a bouquet of roses or Campbell will surprise him with his favorite martini. Show your love some extra appreciation by getting them something small because gifts don’t always have to just be for birthdays! From flowers to their favorite candy, the choices that will make your partner smile are endless.

3. QUALITY TIME

Put down the phone and focus on your love! Being in the moment is the cheapest way to express your admiration. Despite being at an exclusive event like Coachella, Campbell and Jett stayed in on the last night to celebrate their anniversary alone in their hotel room. According to a study by BYU, “A couple has a meaningful conversation without distractions, they have more intimacy and trust in the relationship.” Embrace your connection as the TV show, Instagram post or Twitch stream will always be there but you should never take time with your loved ones for granted.

So, what do the experts recommend when it comes to relationships? Well, Campbell told Bustle that the key is to just be yourself and it will all come naturally. ““I didn’t even know that was possible, but we really do bring out the best in each other.” She recalled before adding that she hopes one day everyone can find their own Jett.
